What this tool does
The El Niño Winter Snow Outlook puts three NOAA data sets side by side for your city or ski area: the Climate Prediction Center's official Dec–Feb outlook, the current strength of El Niño, and how much snow fell at the nearest long-record station in each strong El Niño winter since 1950.
How we work
- Numbers come from NOAA files fetched by our scripts, never typed in by hand, and each source is linked.
- Gaps stay visible: a winter with missing months shows “No data” rather than a misleading total, and items we couldn't verify are labeled UNVERIFIED.
- We refresh after each NOAA release (ENSO discussion on the second Thursday, seasonal outlook on the third Thursday) and log every change on the method & sources page.
What we are not
This is not a weather forecast. We are an independent publisher, not affiliated with or endorsed by NOAA, the National Weather Service, or any ski resort. For forecasts and warnings, use weather.gov.
